We’ve all seen the Maytag commercials. I secretly find them comforting because they’ve been around so long. The most classic one is when the Maytag repairman is just sitting there, then pacing, then sitting there with a ton of phones just sitting around silently. And he’s wishing one of them would ring so he could go repair something, but nothing’s broken. Right? The entire idea of the “Maytag Repair Man” was such a fabulous marketing idea that Maytag deserves some extra kudos! Yeah for you!
In an article I ran across recently about Hyundai I was reminded of the Maytag repairman. The Hyundai warranty was under discussion and a Hyundai spokesperson was asked how the implementation of the warranty affected the company. The spokesperson’s answer surprised me. He said that the costs were always lower than their initial projections.
Considering that the Hyundai warranty offers the best warranty in the business (10 years/100,000 miles powertrain; five years/60,000 miles bumper to bumper; etc.) the fact that their costs are coming in lower than reasonable projections indicates that the Hyundai vehicles on the road today are high quality. So consumers can enjoy the warm and fuzzy feeling that comes with getting great warranty coverage on their new car AND enjoy the additional warm and fuzzy that comes with knowing that they probably won’t need to use it much.
I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t think that was a fabulous moment. And I can’t imagine a car manufacturer being unaware of that fact. At Hyundai they’re not only very aware, but they took the necessary steps to instill quality into each and every vehicle they create.
Hyundai stands out from the proverbial crowd in more ways than just the one (fabulous warranty)…they also offer a great focus on safety that is appreciated by drivers and passengers alike. For instance, Hyundai was the first to install standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC) in a midsize sedan with the 2006 Hyundai Sonata. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) vehicles with ESC have 35% less single vehicle crashes and 30% fewer single vehicle fatalities.
The Hyundai has definitely made moves to carve out a wider niche for itself in the industry by giving consumers good vehicles at good prices with intent focus on the things that matter. We all want to make it from point A to point B safely and without incident, but if there is an incident, we want to know that precautions have been taken to keep us safe. Hyundai took that universal concern and made sure that Hyundai drivers could worry a lot less.
