Whether buying a new or used car you should always invest in a car warranty as this will save you a considerable sum of money if the vehicle breaks down or new parts are needed. There are several things that you need to take into consideration before you sign the warranty on any new or used vehicle that you buy.

In order to find the most suitable car warranty plan for you we offer a few tips below to help you.

1. If you intend to buy a used vehicle then find out if the original warranty is still valid or if you can purchase an extended warranty on it. Normally when you purchase the vehicle from a dealer they will offer a short term warranty that is limited to a set period of time which could save you some money. Sometimes when they are selling used cars that are not too old you may discover that manufacturer’s original warranty is still valid.

2. Ask to see a copy of the owner’s manual as this will tell you everything you need to know about the general warranty conditions for the vehicle. The general warranty provided by the manufacturer will either cover the owner of the vehicle for a three year period or 36,000 miles depending on which is reached sooner. Normally the warranty will list the parts of the vehicle which are covered by it.

3. Look for those vehicles where you can get an extended or power train warranty which cover the vehicle for 60 months or 60,000 miles. However, although some companies offer such warranties as standard many cannot be purchased until after the original warranty on the vehicle has expired.

4. It is important that if you are going to purchase an extended warranty for your vehicle whether new or used then do so through a reputable company. Look for those who offer not only a variety of warranty plans but have been providing them for some considerable time such as Wynn’s Auto Warranty, Carchex Auto Warranty or CNA Auto Warranty. Also arrange to read through all the terms and conditions of the plans before signing one. If you can go for those who not only cover the vehicle no matter where you are but also provide a money back guarantee if you are unsatisfied with it.

5. You need to read through the warranty plans carefully before you do sign anything. Along with looking how long the car warranty will be valid for you need to make sure that there are not any limitations on making claims. This is quite a considerable investment you are going to be making when you buy a car so you need to know that the warranty will protect it.

You need to remember that any car warranty you get is not going to provide a guarantee of how long the car will last for, but is to assure that you that the car was in good condition when purchased. So you need to be aware that there are certain limitations on the kinds of claims that can be made under such warranties and if you mishandle or abuse the vehicle these may well not be covered by it. So this is another reason why you need to read through the document carefully before agreeing to it.

What four things should your consider when trying to decide to donate a car or sell it? These four very important things are: 1)the value of the car, 2)a charity that could use the car, 3)your tax bracket, and 4)the value of your time.

To determine the value of your car, you need to consider the real value of it. Many assume the Kelley Blue Book value is the real value of your car. It is not. The KBB value is only a suggested value. You need to decrease that estimate by 30%. Let’s use the example of a car that has a private party value of $1525. Cutting that value by 30% gives the new, more realistic value of $1067.50.

Whatever price you get from the estimated KBB price that has been discounted will have to be cut again based on your income tax bracket. Let’s say you are in a 25% bracket, and you come up with a value of $1000 for your car. You will have to discount it further by the income bracket percentage to get the true value. In this case, the car would really only be bringing you $750 net.

And we haven’t even got into factoring common expenses accrued when selling your car. Advertising isn’t free. Let’s say that you ran an ad in Auto Trader magazine for $50 and a local newspaper ad cost $30. Take $80 from that $750. You may also want your car professionally detailed and cleaned up. This means subtracting another $70 to have your car washed and detailed.

Most people want assurance that the car is running correctly before they offer it for sale. To get a mechanic to check it out and write you an information sheet to show the buyer, you will have to invest approximately another $75 or so. Also, the appearance of the exterior can mean a lot toward getting top dollar. You may want to do body work as necessary to give it that pristine appearance. That will be and added expense to insure top dollar.

Do you see how the net value from selling the car now goes from $750 to $525? There is actually potential there for less than $525. What if something is wrong with the car? What if you need work done to fix some dents and scratches?

What if the financial benefits to donating the car? Would it compare at all to the $595 you anticipate getting if you sell it? Most cars donated to charity are sold at auction. A new IRS rule says that to get the full deduction a car must be sold and in use immediately after donation. You will typically get a $500 tax deduction or possibly even more, if the car sells for more. You see that if you donate the car, at the most you would come in with only about $25 less than what you would get for selling it. Possibly, you would get even more as a deduction. Even if there is only a $25 difference, is it worth the time and hassle you go through to earn only $25?

Selling a car can be quite time consuming. You will have to deal with strangers and answer all their questions and concerns about the car. You may get phone calls at all hours, some being very inconvenient for you. Your time counts for something.

Let’s figure, just for an estimate, you will spend one-hour fielding phone call inquiries. You may spend an hour and a half composing ads or signs. An appointment with your mechanic or a body shop may take two hours and involve juggling around your work schedule or finding alternative transportation. Having the car cleaned and detailed may involve thirty minutes between scheduling, travel and interacting with the service provider.

You can expect to have to show the car five to ten times before you get a buyer. You will have to schedule the showings at the customers convenience, and sometimes will schedule an appointment to show the car and have them not show up. This can eat up the time, and add as much as three hours to the time required to sell your car.

It is plain to see how at least eight hours are consumed in selling your car, with only $25 expected profit. Can you really afford it? If you donate the car, you just have to call someone to come tow it away to auction and you are done. You never have to think about it again until income tax time when you take that deduction. It is obvious that donating your car makes much more sense than selling it.

Having trouble deciding whether you should donate a car or sell it? It’s important to keep four things in mind when deciding if you are donating your car or selling it to whoever is willing to pay your asking price. These four things are: –What is the value of the car? –What charity could you donate your car to? –What tax bracket do you fall under? –How much is your time worth to you?

In determining the value of your car, you need to consider what the “real value” is. Many people mistakenly believe that they will get whatever the Kelley Blue Book says is the expected value. That is not always the case. Other factors affect what you can expect to get. The value stated by the Kelley Blue Book (KBB) is a good starting point in estimating what to ask, but is often not a reasonable expectation. A more realistic estimate would be to cut the KBB estimate by 30%. Of course, it will be further cut by the tax liability based on your tax bracket.

Other expenses also need to be factored in. You need to advertise. Let’s say you spend $80 on advertising. That means only $670 for the car now. You may also need to have it professionally detailed. Subtract another $70 for that. Now your car is only going to net $600.

Selling a car can be quite time consuming. You will have to deal with strangers and answer all their questions and concerns about the car. You may get phone calls at all hours, some being very inconvenient for you. Your time counts for something.

Selling a car may mean having to deal with phone calls at whatever time the phone rings, whether it is convenient to you or not. You could well spend an hour or more dealing with potential buyers and their questions. Planning and producing ads and signs can easily consume another hour and a half. Taking the car in to the body shop and mechanic may take an additional two hours and may even involve having to miss some work or arrange another means of transportation while it is in the shop. Having it cleaned and detailed may involve another half hour or so.

What kinds of tasks must you schedule for? You have to schedule time for the potential buyers to come and check out the car and give it a test drive. Often, you will set aside time in your schedule to show the car and the potential buyer never shows. Sometimes you will be asked to take the car to a potential buyer’s mechanic to have it inspected. You can easily consume an additional three hours this way.

It is plain to see how at least eight hours are consumed in selling your car, with only $25 expected profit. Can you really afford it? If you donate the car, you just have to call someone to come tow it away to auction and you are done. You never have to think about it again until income tax time when you take that deduction.
The 2008 F1 season has revealed much. Ferrari has a great car, but needs a motivated, master driver. Fernando Alonso has returned to prominence, but needs a better car. Are you think what I am thinking?

Mention Formula One and the same criticisms are spewed out. There is no real fire. Drivers do not try to pass one another enough. The personalities are to boring. There is no real passion with the teams.

I propose that the only way to add life to F1 is to get a good, vicious rivalry going. Yes, McLaren and Ferrari have a go every so often, but we need individuals involved to really get the blood up and boiling.

How great would a driver rivalry be? Look at last year. Alonso and Hamilton went at it so hard on the same team that they forgot about Kimi and let him win the title. It made for great entertainment and racing.

For much of this season, the rivalry has short circuited do to the poor performance of the Renault. That has changed recently and what has happened? Alonso and Hamilton have fired up the rivalry. Hopefully, they will meet on the track in the last few races as well.

For my measure, the Ferrari is a bit better than the McLaren, but the McLaren is a bit more reliable. As we have all seen, the McLaren is far superior in the wet. On top of this, the Ferrari team has made some horrific gaffs.

Now picture Alonso in a Ferrari in 2009. Alonso is like Schumacher in many ways. He would whip that team together and the gaffs would disappear. He is also an excellent driver, particularly in the wet. Do you really think it would not work?

Who would Alonso replace? The obvious answer is Raikkonen. I love Kimi, but he is done. He may have a contract for next year, but Ferrari would be crazy not to let him go. Do not be surprised if something does not come together in the offseason.

When it comes to Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, you simply cannot sit on the fence. You love one of them and think the other is a no good punk. Whatever your choice, a rivalry built around these two drivers would be epic.

Just imagine it. Qualifying. Racing. Each and every week, McLaren and Ferrari going at it. Alonso passing and cutting off Hamilton. Hamilton passing and cutting off Alonso. The rivalry would make for must watch viewing all season long.

The move of Fernando Alonso to Ferrari seems like a natural one. We can all see it coming. With Hamilton and Massa staggering around like drunk drivers, we should all hope it happens in 2009. Then F1 would be something to watch indeed.

by Pamella Neely

Having trouble deciding whether you should donate a car or sell it? It’s important to keep four things in mind when deciding if you are donating your car or selling it to whoever is willing to pay your asking price. These four things are: –What is the value of the car? –What charity could you donate your car to? –What tax bracket do you fall under? –How much is your time worth to you?

First, when we say determine the value of your car, this means the “real value”. A common mistake, made by many people, is to just automatically assume that they will get whatever dollar value Kelley Blue Book reports. KBB is a good value base but it’s sometimes not realistic. You can start by cutting that KBB value by 30% to guess the amount you will most likely get from a buyer. For example: Let’s say a 1989 Mercury Topaz - in zip code 15045 with 170,000 miles - in fair condition with standard features - could have a trade-in value of $760 and a private party value of $1525. Cutting that private party value by 30% gives us a new value of $1067.50.

Depending on your tax bracket, you will have to cut your net profit by whatever percentage you fall under. If you are in the 25% tax bracket and you get an offer for $1000 for your car, just know that after you decrease it by the 25%, you will only have a net profit of $750. You need to take this in to account when determining the net profit. This may well affect your decision as to whether to donate or sell.

An additional expense to consider when you think about selling is the cost of advertising. You will have to subtract whatever advertising expense you have from the net profit. Assume you are going to have to spend $80 to advertise in an auto magazine and $30 for a newspaper. That totals to $80. Subtract that from the $750 net, and you are not down to $670. To get the top dollar for your car you may need to get it professionally cleaned and detailed. That will cost you probably another $70. You are now down to $600 for that $1000 car.

You will want to ensure that the car is running properly. Take away another $75 for a mechanic to inspect the vehicle and write up an info sheet on the car’s condition that you can present to prospective buyers. It’s also important to remember that a car’s exterior condition may be more crucial to its sale than anything else. You may also want to repair body damage on the car as even the most seemingly insignificant everyday nicks and dings can discourage a buyer.

Do you see how the net value from selling the car now goes from $750 to $525? There is actually potential there for less than $525. What if something is wrong with the car? What if you need work done to fix some dents and scratches?

Now consider this. Most cars donated to charity are sold at an auction. In fact, the IRS instituted new rules in 2005 that stated that the only way to get “full” value after donating a car is if the car is sold at an auction and in use after you’ve given it away. Donating a car to charity will typically earn you a $500 tax deduction or the gross proceeds of the auction value of the car. Assuming that you donate a car and earn a $500 tax deduction - is the potential of a $25 profit for selling your car worth the hassle?

You will have to schedule times for people to come see the car, check under the hood and test drive the vehicle. You might even schedule with someone and have them no-show the appointment. Others not only want to look at the car themselves but will also request that you take the car to a mechanic that they trust for an inspection. And, most of the time, people with these type of demands are the ones who don’t close the deal! It is said that someone selling a car can optimistically expect five to ten inquiries that go nowhere before the car is sold. Let’s estimate that a total of three hours is spent meeting with people.

The total time involved so far, with conservative estimates, is approximately eight hours. You have to go through several things that may not be something you really are interested in doing, just to get a buyer. In contrast, to donate the car it takes only a phone call to get someone to come get it. You will also have the satisfaction of helping a charity. So which is the better deal for you, selling or donating?

When youare looking at car insurance prices, it is a good idea to get multiple quotes from many different agencies. This way you can be sure youare getting a great deal and not wasting all that money that you worked so diligently to earn. If you do not shop around you could be paying a price that is way higher than it really should be.

There are various types of car insurance and car insurance companions out there wanting your business. The rates and quotes vary from each one but because auto insurance companies have good marketing skills, they can easily sell high rates to their customers.

A lot of the time auto insurance companies pair up with auto dealers. This way when a customer comes into the auto dealer looking to buy a car, they can drive away with the car after purchasing it. This is because the dealer set them up with insurance. By pairing up with auto dealers, customers do not pay attention to their rates so they may be paying the highest rates that they offer.

Once you take up a car insurance you never turn to analyze its actual worth even if it is costing you more you would will keep paying it. Hence in order to save your money it is better that you check multiple quotes of various insurance companies and avail for the cheap and best car insurance.

Using online resources, you should look at all the details between each and every company. If you find yourself with cheap car insurance, it doesnat necessarily mean that everything else is cheap as well. For example, look deeper into things like past services, claims, deductibles, and any other hidden fees.

You get all the information and can compare multiple quotes of various insurance companies online. Before selecting a car insurance you should also analyze your cars worthiness and select the most suitable car insurance. By doing a little bit of research about car insurance and searching for multiple quotes will enable you to get a budgeted insurance that rightly suites your car and expense and hence help you save a lot of money.

California car insurance are a bit expensive hence by doing a little bit of enquiry will help you obtain a less expensive one. It is necessary to compare various quotes and select the appropriate one. You can also insure it outside california to get cheaper insurance. Think for reasons of why you should get multiple quotes for car insurance and then select the most apt auto insurance.

So please, it can not be stressed enough, shop around for different car insurance quotes when you are buying a car. You definitely do not want to be stuck in a long term contract paying prices that are much higher than your car is worth or higher than you can afford. Hard earned money is not always easy to get, so donat waste it.

These days, it seems like the oil companies are just out to rob us. Gas prices have inflated to beyond ridiculous, along with everything else, while our economy grinds to a slow, painful stop. Most people are just busy trying to figure out how to stay afloat, and want to learn how they can improve gas mileage to save money.

There are several ways to help improve gas mileage, many of them are effective, and others don’t make much of a difference. It can be difficult trying to wade through them all, so I have researched and compiled the most common techniques people are using to improve gas mileage in their cars, so I could pass them on to you.

First of all, changing your oil, and getting regular tuneups. Everyone knows that if your car is tuned up properly and running at it’s optimal level, then the energy expended will be less than if your car was bogged down with mechanical problems. Simple things like changing the air filter, bad hoses, and regular oil changes using the properly weight oil with friction reducers can all make a difference and improve gas mileage.

Another method that works very well, is getting rid of any unnecessary weight your car may be carrying, and getting rid of extras like luggage racks that can create resistance, and decrease your MPG. Keeping your tires at maximum inflation can also help to decrease resistance, although it is said that the MPG gain is fairly small. Still, every little bit can help!

You can improve gas mileage by learning to curb your wild side, and drive at sedate speeds. Keeping your car at a steady 55 mph on the highway can up your gas mileage by as much as 25%. That means no drag racing when the “man” isn’t looking! You can also gain a whopping 14% in MPG just by using your cruise control.

Also, resist the impulse to drive like a maniac, like constantly slamming on your brakes or quickly accelerating. All that does is burn up valuable fuel and waste your dollars. The same goes for excessive idling. If you have a long wait at a drive through, or at the bank, shut your car down. Cutting back on unnecessary idling has been shown to improve gas mileage by as much as 19%. That is a pretty darn big savings if you think about it, just for remembering to do something simple like shut your car down instead of idling.

There are many more simple methods to improve gas mileage, but not enough space to list all of them! Just using even one of these tips can help you save some cash.

An audible security system that sounds when it notices a possible break-in is a car alarm. These car alarms can make a noisy disturbance which can be very annoying and a lot of the time is ignored. There are a lot more technologically sophisticated vehicle security systems that are available.

To help reduce the billion-dollars of car theft, manufacturers have developed innovative technology with two-way communication remotes to warn you when your vehicle’s engine is started and notify you why the alarm was activated. The most common options in newer car security systems include glass break sensors, a two-way communication remote and passive arming.

You won’t hear an audible car alarm if you’re not near your vehicle. If your car is stolen while you’re on vacation, it may be many days before you know about it. Some car security systems will phone you or send you a text message if a break in occurs. A two-stage automatic car alarm can also tell you if the car’s engine is running, if the car is in motion, or if the car is stationary and has just been bumped into by someone.

If the vehicle is moving, you could communicate to the automatic car alarm to turn off the fuel pump, which will effectively stop the vehicle. Of course, if your car is on the back of a tow truck, stopping the engine will not prevent the theft. Many of the newer vehicle security systems are also equipped with GPS tracking devices to keep tabs on your vehicle’s location.

Preventing Car Jacking: Several models of automatic vehicle alarms include a car jacking mechanism that will enable you to turn off the gas with the press of a button. The activation switch is usually located near the seat belt release and pressing it will shut off the fuel and apply the brakes to stop the car. This feature gives you a useful option when you might otherwise be helpless. With this system, a person being car jacked can actively prevent the theft of their vehicle.

Often these systems will alert police in the event of a car jacking. Most systems are intended to quickly notify authorities that something is happening and can be invaluable in life-threatening situations. Approaching a car thief in the middle of stealing your vehicle can be very dangerous. It is better to let law enforcement handle the situation. Once your automatic car alarm informs you with a phone call or text message that the car is being stolen, you can notify the police, who will have a head start on catching the thief in the act.

Do not feel left out if you have never submitted an insurance claim. It is not one of the easiest things to do. Just like most of us out there, your day will come when you will have to deal with an insurance company regarding a claim. Listed below is a step-by-step guide to help you through your first insurance claim experience.

As a pre-step to the first step, let me just say that the best thing you can do for yourself is to get a cheap car insurance quote. Remember the cheaper your quote the less you will have to pay monthly.

Policy in hand you start on your adventure to your next destination. Your Insurance is in your glove compartment and you are feeling pretty good about all of the money you are saving. Thinking about how much money you are saving and why, you choose to drive carefully.

aScreech! Crash! *and%^!a Letas assume that the accident was not your fault, you were driving cautiously along, minding your own business, when out of nowhere, another car slammed into you. Thankfully, no oneas hurt. Call the police. Not everyone agrees that this is necessary, but Iave found that the insurance companyas are much easier to deal with when you have a police report in hand that says the accident wasnat your fault.

Say the accident was your fault and you slammed into someone elses new car with your beat up beauty. Of course you didnat mean to, and boy wouldnat it be nice if we just went our separate ways, it doesnat look that bad right? I doubt the other person feels the same and the cops are on their way.

So the sometimes nice sometimes not police officer shows up. After this happens you will be able to move your cars out of the way of traffic. He will most likely ask you a series of questions and ask for proof of insurance as well as your drivers license. Pray everything is up to date on your car.

So after what seems like forever you are released to go home. Truthfully you probably donat want to talk to anyone else at this point but trust me, this needs to get done immediately. Drag out your policy and make the call. Pop some popcorn and grab a drink because this might take a while. Be sure to have a pen and paper ready.

A representative from the company will eventually make their way to your call. Asking you the same questions the police did. Yes you have to tell the story all over again. You will want to give them a police report when you get it. You will want to know the details of your policy. If you donat they can help you with that. They can also help you find an adjuster or a body shop if needed. You should feel lucky; you made it out of the crash alive and also through your first claim. Congratulations.

Advance auto part coupons are a an effective way to save expenses on the frequent maintenance for your car. This maintenance is something you have to do anyway, so looking for and using coupons may only be a profit for you.

Let me show you few ways of finding and using advance auto part coupons

Save Coupons As You Locate Them.

We often get coupon mailings. Mostly it has coupons or flayers from local businesses, including coupons from auto part stores. save these kind of advance auto part coupons, Even if it is a part you did not need at the end of the day, and you throw away the coupon once it is out of use, the worst that can occur is that the coupon will occupy up some space on your refrigerator or in your drawer for a little while.

Best thing that might occur, of course, is that you find the coupon at just the best period to save cost on something important you must do anyway . some of the auto parts that you can get advance auto part coupon on are ;alternators, air filter etc.

Ask Your favorite Auto Part Store

Check with your choice auto repair shop. If you have a favorite website you usually purchase your car parts from, do not go some other store just because you have the coupon. There is a reason why that site is your favorite, and you might end up being displeased if you purchase your auto part someplace else. Instead, make enquiries with your choice site and see what offers they are running. They may have flayers with their recent coupons in the store, so they may give the special offers to buyers when they ask, particularly loyal returning customers like you. Or they may be able to inform you how you can get your hands on their specific coupons online, in the local paper, or in a mailing they sent out recently.

There is also another possibility you can look at. Not too many atime one store will honor another shop’s advance auto part coupons, in order to get (or keep) you as customer, But this is a very rear occasion i must say.

Go For The Coupons Now

We have a lot of resources online if you find yourself needing a particular advance auto part coupon. For instance, sites like ValPak gives a searchable coupon database. You just print the coupons you need, and take them with you when you go.

Purchasing parts can be expensive, so is better to find all possible methods to save money. A smart way to save cash is to put to good use advance auto part coupons for expenses you’ll have one way or another. I hope these suggested methods have given you some ideas oh how and where you can save money on buying auto parts.
